In 1996, John "jzap" Zapisek noticed that the usual standings pages available did not answer a critical question: Is my team on pace to make the playoffs? Recognizing this as a problem, he created and maintained nhl.jzap.com so all fans of the NHL (albeit primarily Sharks fans) could find an answer to this question.
Sadly, jzap passed away in 2012. His site continued running in his absence, tended by his friend Bruce. However, in 2016, the server hosting the site suffered a failure, and in the absence of physical access to the server, the site has remained offline.
In Feb. 2018, I realized I'd been missing access to the site for long enough. Armed with a snapshot from archive.org and the stats API from nhl.com, I set about to reconstruct as much of the site as possible. What you see now is the result. Because the initial work came from jzap, it continues to bear his name.
